Bear Charm ?

I've been going through vacation photos and thought I would share this "barn".
This is the Boyds Bear store in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee which is just on the edge of the Great Smoky Mountains.

Unfortunately, the store was not open very long.  I know there was at least one other store in Pennsylvania, but I do not know if it is still in business.

We've been back to The Smokies a few times since these photos were taken, but I don't know what the building is used for now.

Notice the date stamp.  These were made with the first digital camera I bought.
I think I used it 3 or 4 years before I upgraded.  And when I did upgrade, I realized what an awful camera it was.  The lag between my hitting the shutter button and when the scene was completely recorded was tremendous.  And, it ate batteries.  I still have the camera card I used.  128 MB.  Yes, MB.  It would hold only 7 or 8 of my RAW+jpeg now.
So much has changed with technology in just ten years.  And I love it!

Anyway . . .
If you've never been to the Great Smoky Mountains, consider putting it on your vacation list.

Looks like a neat place, shame it's no longer operational. I know what you mean about cameras too, so many advancements. :0)

I was attracted by the huge Teddy Bear painting. In our country, I haven't seen an establishment that big that caters to Teddy Bears. Though as you said, it's sad that it's no longer operational.

What a gorgeous building! It's a shame the store didn't stay in business. I hope the barn has been kept in it's original form. It's amazing how quickly technology advances!

Love this building. I have been through the Smokeys back in 1964 on our way to New York. Would love to go back and actually take time to really enjoy the sights.

Love that bear on the barn (say that real fast) so much charm. Sorry to hear they are not operating any longer. Thanks for stopping by Laura. PS. It take a clematis a little while to get established but they are well worth the wait.

That's so sad that their business didn't last long... looks like it would have been a neat place to check out... LOVE the barn & the stone foundation & the mural!

I'd love to get to the Smokey Mountains, I'm patiently waiting for the opportunity!

Thanks in advance for joining Barn Charm =)

Cute bear, cute welcome mural. Too bad the business didn't take off. But how many bear collectors can there be who visit Pigeon Forge? Was there last fall and didn't see this mural so it must be gone now. You're right the Smokies are beautiful. Thanks for linking to Monday Mural.

Adorable - what a great sales technique you would have thought that would have gotten a lot of people to stop, guess not.

I would have thought that it would be a success in that area with all the tourists!

A lot of money went into building that huge structure. I'll bet there's some kind of show in there now.
I have a few Boyd's Collector bears. Not sure if a store exists outside of dealers.
Terrific shots!
